Norman motorcycles were built in Ashford, Kent, well away from the industry's traditional Midlands home. Originally enamellers and platers, Norman turned to bicycle manufacture in the mid-1930s and exhibited its first powered two-wheelers - the 98cc Motobyk autocycle and a 122cc lightweight motorcycle - in 1938, both of which were Villiers powered.
DBT was first registered in January 1946 to Edwin Lunn of Wetwang, near Driffield, in 1949 it went to William Robinson of Nafferton, then in 1951 to Cyril Moore of Driffield and back to Nafferton with Frank Venables in 1952. He fitted a replacement engine, as detailed in both the R.F.60 and V5C. It was last registered in 1961. It then appears to have been stored until it left Yorkshire in 2020 with Terence Hobbs of Lichfield and the following year it went to outer London with Stephen Deane. He restored  it with rechromed wheels, handlebars and other ancillaries, in good running order and video is available of it being started up by the guys who restore bikes for a television programme.
