Of Agricultural Society for the Hundred of West Derby interest -A George II silver presentation goblet, by Thomas Hayter, London 1809, of plain form, engraved The Agricultural Society of the Hundred of West Derby, to Mr John Rimmer, an honorary cup for, meritorious exertion on his farm, MDCCCIX, weight 7.5 oz, height 17 cm.
The Agricultural Society for the Hundred of West Derby was founded at Hoult's Inn, Prescot, in June 1801, for the improvement of agriculture in the area and the encouragement of industry in agriculture by the distribution of prizes for merit. The activities of the Society were suspended in October, 1813 "owing to the state of the funds and the continued absence of members".
