In 1974, Moto Guzzi upgraded the V7 Sport with a double disc at the front and used by new colours, side panels of a more modern line and a saddle with a raised shank. The bike was called 750 S and 1,204 units were built. To increase the performance, the chromed exhausts of the V7 Sport were replaced with two blackened "Lafranconi" silencers sporting a "competition" look and sound, and in tune with the engine.
The 750 S possesses all the technical characteristics of the Sport, from the 750 cc engine derived from the V7 Special with a slightly reduced cubing, and with an alternator in place of the dynamo, a dry clutch, and a drive shaft.
Bought by our vendor in 2002 from Italy where it was advertised as a Factory fitted Bol d'Or replica for Piacenza Guzzi dealer Sr Cociti or Coroli. It was fitted with special pistons, barrels, cams and upgraded supposedly to 1000cc. It comes with Italian purchase receipt from Coroli. A 2002 VMCC letter suggests this may be the first 750S engine.
Our vendor had the machine fully restored including the engine fully stripped and dyno tested, a letter on file suggests 850cc.
An interesting machine that further research may prove very rewarding.
