1970 BSA A65 Thunderbolt, 650cc. Registration number TOF 503H. Frame number XD03529 A65T. Engine number XD03529 A65T.
The BSA Thunderbolt was designed as a touring motorcycle. A traditional air cooled 650cc, twin cylinder with a single large bore Amal Monobloc carburettor, it did not suffer from the same level of vibration as earlier BSA twins and could comfortably cruise at 70mph and reached over 100mph. Fitted with 12 volt electrics, a Zener diode voltage regulator and twin coil ignition, the Thunderbolt sold well. From 1968, it benefited from a number of minor improvements including a longer kick start to make starting easier, metal tank badges and stiffer suspension to improve cornering.
TOF, a matching numbers machine, has MOT history back to 2004 at 2,798 miles, with Mr P. Wright (new tacho fitted) rising gently each year until the 2012 one at 3,565 miles. In 2014 the tank was sealed at a cost of £322 by Anson Classic Restorations.
Our vendor bought it in 2018 and the mileage now is 3,728.
Sold with the V5C, old MOT history, and several receipts. It will require recommissioning due to lack of use but it has been started up periodically.
