£12,000 - £15,000
1965 Velocette Thruxton, Registration number JPG 600C. Frame number RS18405. Engine number VMT 118.
Sold with the V5C, various old MOT's and tax discs, receipts and books.
The Thruxton was produced between 1965 and 1971, it was the final development of Velocette's pushrod single, the Venom. A very rare machine, only 1,108 Thruxtons were manufactured before the company collapsed in 1971.
Based on the existing Venom, the Thruxton featured a tuned engine with revised big-valve cylinder head, Amal GP carburettor, clip-on handlebars, rear-set footrests and a twin-leading-shoe front brake as standard equipment and was named after the Hampshire race track.
JPG is the 18th Thruxton produced and has had only 3 owners. The first, G. Nichols bought it on the 5th of July 1965, next came J. Prince in 1988 and our vendor bought it in 2016.
During his tenure he has changed the BTH magneto and Alton alternator, added the centre stand, fitted a Mikuni carb and changed the handlebars and seat. All of the original parts come with the machine. It is in good running order and a video is available of it running.
