Raised as the Nottinghamshire Yeomanry in 1794, the Regiment deployed on several occasions in the 19th Century to maintain law and order in the local area. Since 1900 The Sherwood Rangers have served overseas in the Boer War and both World Wars. In 1967 the Regiment was downsized from a full Regiment to a Squadron of the Royal Yeomanry becoming B Squadron, equipped with armoured cars.
