Provenance; ex H&BR's Springhead Works, collected with the permission of the demolition team around 1980 when the works were demolished. This was located in the Erecting Shop.
The Hull Barnsley & West Riding Junction Railway and Dock Company (HB&WRJR&DCo.) was opened on 20 July 1885. The name was changed to The Hull and Barnsley Railway (H&BR) in 1905. The Springhead Works were built on green-field land north of the main line outside the then area of urbanisation of Hull.
