For the 1987 model year, the 944 S (the S being the abbreviation of Super) was introduced. The 944 S featured a high performance naturally aspirated, dual-overhead-cam 16-valve 187 hp version of the 2.5 L engine featuring a self-adjusting timing belt tensioner. This marked the first use of four-valves-per-cylinder heads and DOHC in the 944, derived from the 928 S4 featuring a redesigned camshaft drive, a magnesium intake tract/passages, magnesium valve cover, larger capacity oil sump, and revised exhaust system.
ELE has comprehensive history, including the original owners maintenance book listing AFN Ltd as the first owner, the second being John McAdam. 17 stamps in the book up to 173,126 miles in 2004.
In 2012 it had a new cam belt at 200,575 miles, in 2016 it had new drive shafts and an alternator. An HPI check shows that in September 2016 it was recorded as stolen and then recovered, resulting in a Cat C write off. The mileage at this time was 211,453 miles, the new MOT is at 211,447 miles. At some point it has had a full respray.
It has recently had £1000 spent on MOT related repairs. It requires a replacement interior.
Sold with the V5C, MOT until July 2024, two keys, large receipt folder for works over the years, new unfitted front brake discs, pads and a shock absorber, owners manuals and service book, there is no spare wheel.
