A Peter Layton Art Glass iridescent shell with silver tip, London 1986, signed and dated 1986, length 28.5 cm.
Layton was born in 1937 in Prague, but two years later, his parents settled in Bradford, to be near his grandfather, a pathologist and colleague of Sigmund Freud. He gained a diploma at London's Central School of Art and Design, followed by a teaching post at the University of Iowa in 1965 where he learnt glass blowing from Marvin Lipofsky and Sam Herman. In 1976 he opened the London Glassblowing Workshop.
Sold with the receipt from Copernican Connection, Beverley, dated 1988 for £200.
