John Bell (1811-95) for Elkington Mason & Co., an electro type silver and silver gilt plated single fusee mantel clock with A-frame movement, the 7cm engine turned dial within an Art Nouveau style case cast with classical robed figures, plaque verso of the plinth inscribed Electro Deposited & Published by Elkington Mason & Co., April 1853, 36cm, no pendulum or key.
See lot 628 Bonhams 13 February 2024 for a similar twin fusee clock that was exhibited at the London 1851 Great Exhibition and Paris Universal Exhibition of 1855.
John Bell was a British sculptor, his works were shown at the Great Exhibition of 1851, and his most famous work is the marble group representing "America" on the Albert Memorial in London.
