The YVPS Yamaha RD500LC is a high-performance, two-stroke sports motorcycle, produced between 1984 and 1986, using a liquid cooled V4 engine with power valves to give a wider power band with four Mikuni carburettors. The transmission is by a six-speed close ratio gearbox with a wet clutch. The frame is made from box section steel and there are twin discs on the front with single on the rear. Different countries had different spec, the Japanese version being the most altered. The RZV features upgraded parts not found on the standard RD500LC the most important difference being the hand-welded lightweight aluminium frame. It was also used for the handlebars, gear lever, and brake lever, it weighed some 20lb less than the stock RD500LC, although the engine was detuned was the Home market.
UGF was imported into the UK in 1989 and was owned by John Brumby of Doncaster in 1991. By 1994 the engine when at 25,213 miles was given a major rebuild with +5mm pistons at a cost of £632, at the same time it received a respray, at a cost of £450. In 1996 our vendor bought it from EVA Bros of Scunthorpe for £1,125!
MOT's from 1996 at 25,941km, 1997 at 28,553km and 14,956miles show that the speedo was changed to MPH. He then parked it up with a mileage of 19629 in 2000.
