A Victorian gold turquoise book bracelet, retailed by John Brogden, composed of pierced and engraved panel spelling SOUVENIR, engraved "In memory, Anne Carew", 17.5cm, 48.6gm, case.
Provenance; taken in lieu of a debt by our vendors great grandfather c.1910, subsequently stolen and recovered c.1923/4, known of as "The Pole Carew bracelet".
Pole Carew probably relates to the Hon. Caroline Anne Lyttelton, daughter of William Lyttelton, 1st Baron Lyttelton and wife of Reginald Pole-Carew. He served as Conservative Member of Parliament for East Cornwall from 1845 until 1852. He served as High Sheriff of Cornwall in 1854–1855, and as Recorder of East Looe from 1857 to 1886.
