Barford and Perkins, were a family firm that manufactured road construction rollers/compactors, agricultural rollers, and other agricultural machinery. The companies history goes back to 1860 when the firm was founded as Blacksmiths. After 3 generations Barford and Perkins Merged with Aveling & Porter in 1934 to form Aveling-Barford. This was following the collapse of the AGE group which they were both part of.
Fitted with a three Cylinder Lister diesel engine with electric start. It is believed there are only two known on the roller register
It is very light on the steering and so is fairly maneuverable. It has three speeds in forwards gear and three speeds in reverse. It has a good turn of speed going about 8 or 9 mph in forwards or reverse, can be changed from forwards to reverse or vice versa instantly with two clutches so no gear change needed.
