In 1998, the R1 was introduced to beat the FireBlade, it was capable of a true 168mph and a standing start quarter mile times in 10.38 seconds. With a genuine 130bhp at the rear wheel in stock trim, and a lightweight 175kg dry weight, the R1 was built to appease fans who had been raised on a diet of headbanger-like Yamaha two-strokes.
BFT has four stamps in the service book plus a receipt for one in 2023 at 28,915 miles, our vendor purchased at this time and it has been on display in his home since. It was MOT'd last year but not used since so light recommissioning may be required, the battery has been recharged.
