£55
A small mid 19th century French skeleton alarm clock, probably by Victor-Athanase Pierret (1806 - 1893), with enamelled Roman dial, inner brass alarm ring and foliate scroll engraved frame, raised on an ebonised socle base concealing the bell and housing two side pull strings, height 23cm.
Pierret exhibited a small skeleton alarm at the 1851 Great Exhibition at Crystal Palace, in 1853 applied for a patent for a new date indication device, and in 1855 he patented an 8-day power reserve movement.
The movement is complete and is ticking, the pendulum and dome are missing and the base in need of repair.
