The Yamaha V-Max is a cruiser motorcycle, which was produced by Yamaha from 1985 through to 2020. Known for its 70° V4 engine, shaft drive and muscle bike looks.
Upon its release in 1985, the V-Max garnered instant critical acclaim and earned the title "Bike of the Year" from Cycle Guide. Sold both in Japan and abroad, the V-Max was sold with only minor modifications from the 1985 model year until the 2007 model year. The engine was a tuned version of the double overhead camshaft, four valve per cylinder, liquid-cooled V-4 from the Yamaha Venture. Along with other modifications to the engine, the compression ratio was raised to 10.5:1, and the V-Boost system was added. The V-Max remains a popular choice as a comfortable cruiser bike, and still has a strong following internationally.
XNP is a recent Japanese import, being first registered with the DVLA to our vendor in October 2023. The dating certificate confirms it is to 1991 model specs.
Our vendor informs us that he purchased the machine due to its originality and general well kept condition. He has subsequently carried out a thorough detailing and recommissioning, including changing all brake seals and pads, clutch master and slave cylinder rebuild, fitting new Dunlop tyres, cleaned and balanced the carbs and replaced all fluids. It passed an MOT with no advisories, immediately before delivery to our premises. The bike starts readily, idles smoothly, and rode well on a brief test around our premises. A classic V twin cruiser.
