A late 19th century Improved Admiral Fitzroy barometer in carved oak cased with printed circular scale incorporating thermometer and mercury tube, Carters, Queens Seedmen, London, thermometer, 112cm.
Carters were renowned for their Sweet Pea seeds, this earned them patronage by European royalty including the Prince of Wales and Queen Victoria, the Kings of Italy and Portugal, as well as the Ottoman Sultan.
