1985 Kawasaki GP Z900R, 908cc. Registration number B363 RRT (non transferrable). Frame number ZX900A019694. Engine number ZXT00AE015513.
The Kawasaki GPZ900R (also known as the ZX900A or Ninja 900) was manufactured by Kawasaki from 1984 to 2003. It is the earliest member of the Ninja family of sport bikes and was a revolutionary design that became the immediate predecessor of the modern-day sport bike. Developed in secret over six years, it was Kawasaki's and the world's first 16-valve liquid-cooled inline four-cylinder motorcycle engine.
The 908 cc four-cylinder engine delivered 115 bhp, allowing the bike to reach speeds of 151 mph, making it the first stock road bike to exceed 150 mph. Although its steel frame, 16-inch front and 18-inch rear wheels, air suspension, and anti-dive forks were fairly standard at that time, the narrow, compact engine was mounted lower in the frame, allowing it to take Japanese superbike performance to a new level. Six months after being unveiled to the press in December 1983, dealers entered three works GPZ900R bikes in the Isle of Man Production TT finishing in first and second places.
RRT was first registered in 2000 in the UK and in 2007 was with Antony Hase of Norwich being MOT'd at 17,478 miles, the following year it had risen slightly to 17,739 and was with Dave Draper of Colchester and had a full service, then followed Colin Marshall of Hayes and Neil McCallam of Wakefield in 2010, our vendor buying it from him in 2015. Over the last 4 years he has totally stripped and rebuilt the bike, frame and panels have been painted, the engine thoroughly serviced, fuel system gone through and any niggles sorted.
MOT history confirms its current mileage of 18,928 as does the collection of service receipts whilst in his care.
Sold with the V5C, MOT's from 2000 at 39,103 km through to the current May 2021 one, bike cover, various service receipts and spares, this GP Z900R is in good condition and ready to ride from the saleroom with recently fitted new tyres. It should be noted that the KM odometer appears to have been changed to an MPH example in 2001 as the mileage changes from 39,103 KM to 11,321 Miles in this year.
