Barry Hawley (1933-2000), Cutty Sark, c.1993, a cut tin sculpture of the Cutty Sark, copper rods for the sheets, 110 x 85cm.
Purchased from the sculptor.
The sculpture was produced by Barry whilst he was the manager of the Gosforth Park Hotel in Newcastle to celebrate the 1993 Tall Ships race that sailed from Newcastle Upon-Tyne - Bergen - Larvik - Esbjerg - Antwerp. Between 1973 and 2003 the races were known as The Cutty Sark Tall Ships Races, having been sponsored by Cutty Sark whisky.
