Val Page laid down the basics of Ariel's four-stroke singles range in 1926, moved the magneto behind the engine in 1927 and established the form in which the engine would survive for the next 30 years. Ariel's range at this time produced a large variety of models, which lead to their downfall later, vertical engines, sloping engines, side valves, overhead valves in two and four per cylinder form.
AHP consists of a frame that was dispatched to W. Brandish of Coventry and an engine that went to A.H. Bastin of Bristol. In 1947 G.T. Dancer owned it and our Ariel collector bought it in 1997 as a retirement project. At that time it did not have an engine but he had the one now fitted, in his garage. Unfortunately this never transpired so the next owner will have that pleasure.
