Along with the rival Lambretta, the Piaggio-built Vespa mobilised an entire generation of Italians in the immediately post-war years, the hitherto humble scooter going on to become part of British youth culture in the 1960s as favourite transport of the fashion-conscious 'Mods'. Douglas built the Vespa under licence in the UK between 1951 and 1963, continuing to import the machine from Italy thereafter.
GKL has been subject to a high quality custom paint scheme, The Joker, cover the main panels. The engine also appears to have been worked on with a sports Sterling exhaust.
Bought by our vendor as a shop display piece he has now decided on a change of display.
Sold with the V5C, it will require recommissioning before use.
