Along with the rival Lambretta, the Piaggio-built Vespa mobilised an entire generation of Italians in the immediately post-war years, the hitherto humble scooter going on to become part of British youth culture in the 1960s as favourite transport of the fashion-conscious 'Mods'. Douglas built the Vespa under licence in the UK between 1951 and 1963, continuing to import the machine from Italy thereafter.
VLL has been owned by our vendor since 2022 with the intention of a restoration, this has not happened so he is moving it on.
