There is no paperwork with this machine.
To enable Matchless to compete in the Daytona 200, parent company AMC announced the construction of a batch of 25 CSRs for homologation in February 1962. To meet the AMA’s rules, at least 25 roadster-based machines, fitted with lights and the like, had to be sold for the model to be approved for racing. The G50 cammy engine was fitted into a G80CS scrambler frame, a dynamo installed and belt-driven from a pulley on the crankshaft. This, together with the lights and regulator, were quickly detachable for racing duties.
The machine was originally given the go ahead by the AMA but they later banned it due to other teams complaining about its competitiveness.
This machine was built in the early 2000's by our vendor when he was offered a brand new Mick Taberer unit. He decided to build a G50 CSR rep instead of his usual preference of trials/scramblers. The frame is an exact replica of the standard G50 with tapered tubes, road gearbox with reversed cam plate to allow one up, three down, standard ratios, new petrol and oil tanks, front and rear conical hubs with rims, Amal GP carb, AMC clutch, G50 front forks and alloy mud guards, The rims are 18", originally they would have been 19".
Since completion it has been dry stored and will need commissioning before use.
