1998 Ducati 900SS, 904cc. Registration number S850 CUB. Frame number M906SC2-026148. Engine number 042809.
In Cagiva ownership from 1985, Ducati continued to offer developments of the Fabio Taglioni-designed Pantah while developing an entirely new family of water-cooled models that would debut towards the decade's end in the form of the legendary 851 Superbike. At the same time, the Paso tourer's Weber carburetted 904cc air-cooled engine was put in the 750 Sport chassis to create the 900 Super Sport, its name recalling a famous model from the Bologna firm's not too distant past. Other noteworthy features included 17" wheels, larger Brembo brakes and Marzocchi suspension.
CUB was first registered in August 1998, by Moto Veloce of York to Gerald Bowler and serviced by them the following month at 800 miles. By 1991 the mileage had risen to 9,707, and when our vendor bought it in 2004 to 10,825, further MOT history has seen the mileage gently rise to the current March 2021 one at 16,851 miles. Tax discs run from 1999 to 2012.
The all important service history is noted in 2000, in 2004 a full service included cam belts at 10,948 miles, another cam belt change took place in 2011 at 14,776 miles and in 2019 again the belts were changed at 16,806 miles, the mileage is now 16,851 miles.
This well cared for 900SS has had recent tyres fitted and is "on the button", ready to ride from the auction.
